here is a short tale for you ho’dem donkeys. me ? i just need the practice.

this should be good for a laugh, i thought. as part of my whack-a-mole poker experiment i registered for the 10c 360 player mtt on stars. i made the money, getting a 3-1 roi. the fact i got in the money makes me think i played not to badly. the part i want to share is the big stack who could have folded to the final table. he had other ideas and if anyone can shed some light on his 6th level thinking, feel free to enlighten this donk.

when i was moved to his table he had t11,500 and i was on t9k or so. here is how he very cleverly accumulated his stack.

first hand i see, he calls an all in, his 66 busts KK in fine style …. funny thing ? the third guy in the had 77 and hit dbq’s on the turn. the poor guy with kings must have wondered what the hell just happened. so mr-soon-to-be-huge-stack only collects a 9k side pot for his efforts. heeping him at his original t11,5k stack.

then it started …

all in pre, his AJ hits two pair crushing 77 and he doubles to t25k

his J6 loses to QK he drops to t20k

then he blast all in three in a row, gets called by a shortie, he shows T2 hits a deuce and busts the shortie, he now has t30k …. the blinds are only 200/400 and we’re inside the top 60 with 36 gettin paid. time to sit tight ? make the money ?

no way ! next half dozen hands he call pushes from short stacks, loses them all and drops to t20k and then

his T3 crushes AT for a 32k pot, his AJ beaten by KK for for a 17k pot, the blinds go up to 500/1000, i am down to 3.5k and the push fold ninja still has 32k,

then he crushes AK v AQ with his 35 for 47k so so sic. whee he has a 60k stak !! and we are inside the top 50 and he carries on either blasting if there is no raise before him, but he is also calling pushes before him.

then his T8 beats K9 and he hits 75k blinds still 500/1000 funny thing (normal) there was a K and an 8 on the flop, in goes the money, he river the T

he started getting caught when he tried to play :) he lost 20k of his stack when he bet the flop & turn & called the river holding a Q high flush, the river bet guy had the nut flush, ouch. not much sorrow for the table bully though. very next hand he actually folded to a river bet with his stack almost halved.

very next hand it all goes in on a 4,7,9 rainbow flop ….

he showed JQ off ….. hmmmm way beyond me

his opponent 89 off …. not surprised he bet his top pair

is it just me ? he went from a 69k stack to out, before the money, ((more or less bubble boy, inside the top 40 with 36 getting payed)) in three consecutive hands, the blinds were 600/1200 when he went and i had only 2k left ?? surely that is not the way to play a big stack ?

me ? i lasted to the 19-27 payouts, 24th actually !!

short-stack-ninja baby :)

as you all know, we, as in rTr, hit the APAT meet in Blackpool for some live gig. what can i say ? excellent weekend, thanks to the others, of course ! and nice bunch you all are too !

congrats to mair !! and the rest of the peeps who got us some points, bagging second place in the team event, w00t !

hammerheid met me at Blackpool Station and we walked back to the digs, showered and refreshed we all headed for the casino. very nice place with an excellent cardroom. not a window in sight … not a clock in sight … you only got a sense of the time you lost if you popped out to the smoking cage … to find out it was pitch black !!

i knew mair was going to have a fine weekend, when the three of us played a £10 stt with a few of the locals, all quite young too. she was short of chips and pushed on the flop i think ? the board was something ridiculous like 679TJ …. young guy next to act either shoved or put in a big bet … his mate, sat on mair’s right then hums and haws … he eventually folds, shows 77, lmfao, he folds the set … mair shows two pair … and the fucking numpty who pushed his mate off the set … he shows K4 …. thats correct, he has sweet fuck all … wow !!

lol mair then went on to win it and very kindly gave me my by-in back, thanks mair :)

the APAT event kicked off saturday about 3 o’clock. befitting my status, i was chucked out to table 20. my inexperience showed, i’m afraid, with an APAT guy sat on my left who refused to let me see a cheap flop, and i played way to tight. of course on the odd occaision i picked up a hand, the rest folded, meh !

had i not played it so tight, i would have made an early exit. any time i saw a flop or folded any sort of hand to a raise, i 100% missed every single flop, thats my story and i am sticking to it. so i hung on until there were 7 or 8 tables left and then i got moved and unfortunately Lou arrived at my table shortly thereafter.

that proved to be my undoing. i was seat one or was it two ? Lou was five i think and when one player got busted Lou’s bb was my button. and we were both short, fuck.

i did double at that table when my AA was good on a 233 flop, me and a bigger stack got it in and i reached a huge 15k chips … lol rising blinds soon put paid to that, and i could have shoved on Lou’s bb but i restrained myself …. and my exit hand ?

an early position shortish stack pushed and i find JJ …. sorry, but the chips were going in … he tabled A-rag … and of course the A arrived on the river, where else !! out i go just inside the top 70 … as you know Lou then proceeded to play a fantastic game and hung in there to take 10th place, go girl … if my JJ had held … who knows ….

after that it all got a bit blurry :)

what can i say though, mair played a blinder ! and deservedly took 1st place, wow !

no pressure, hon, but we expect you to make it big in the GUKPT event :)

due to popular demand … *)

easy huh ? don’t make crying calls, don’t call with mediocre hands, pray to the 4-goddessess-of-poker your opponent does
